Africans have traditionally told stories around the fireplace, sharing tales from the past that shape our identity. Fireplace is a monthly seminar that continues this tradition. From the Maccabean Revolt in the second century BC to the Jerusalem Council in the mid-first century AD, the Arian Controversy that led to the crafting of the Nicene Creed, Martin Luther’s stand against Rome, the birth of Anglicanism in England, Alexander Mackay’s arrival in Buganda with the gospel, and the origins and influence of the East African Revival, we explore events and personalities that have shaped Christianity. On the first Saturday of each month (4:30-7:30 pm), we gather to explore Church History and reflect on the ancient story that continues to shape our Faith.
