Our Rationale
Uganda is a mis-reached country. While over 80% of Ugandans identify as Christians, most have never heard or responded to the gospel, mistaking a Christianized African Traditional worldview and Western-fueled prosperity teaching for the gospel. Despite this reality, Western missions often prioritize unreached people groups, with good reason. But the Donatist controversy and the spread of Islam across North Africa ought to remind us that a mis-reached people can quickly become unreached unless urgent, strong efforts are made to deepen discipleship and properly resource local churches for gospel mission.
Uganda offers several opportunities for disciple-makers to leverage. For starters, Uganda is a youthful nation, with a median age of around 16 and over 70% of its population under 30. Secondly, most of these young people are openly religious and hold a theistic worldview, though it is poorly formed.
Uganda offers several opportunities for disciple-makers to leverage. For starters, Uganda is a youthful nation, with a median age of around 16 and over 70% of its population under 30. Secondly, most of these young people are openly religious and hold a theistic worldview, though it is poorly formed. Thirdly, for some time, the Ugandan government has prioritized expanding access to education, resulting in more youth being literate. Fourth, access to the internet and technology is growing in the country, especially among the youth. The youthfulness of the country, their openness to spiritual matters, the growth of literacy, and easier access to the internet mean at least two things for the Church in Uganda: (1) we have a great opportunity to reach this and the next generation with the gospel through print, publications, and audiovisual resources, and (2) we have a short window to guide these young people theologically before they find alternative answers to their questions online. In other words, there is an urgent need to resource and equip the Ugandan Church to deepen discipleship and live missionally.
We at Veracity Fount aim to ensure that the Ugandan church is equipped through theological research and supplied with the gospel tools necessary to keep her sharper in the knowledge of God and those she’s trying to reach.
Our Programs
Veracity Fount seeks to research and resource the Ugandan church for renewal through
Local Church Partnerships
We believe the local church is the best context for sustained communal learning, under accountability, for the sake of the visible body of Christ. Community is forged not by commuters, but by members of one another. To this end, Veracity Church will foundationally exist to equip and empower the church’s work. In Uganda, a nation poised to be the 8th most Christian country in the world by 2060, according to the Pew Research Center. The harvest is plenty.
